Grass Seed

Not all grass seed blends are created equal. Especially here in Minnesota where the climate can be quite demanding. So, choosing the right product for your seeding and lawn project matters more than you think. You can buy grass seed at a big box store. But those grass seed mixtures are sold for a wide range of states with a wide range of climate zones. They simply aren’t designed to survive more than a season in Minnesota because most of the seeds are annuals! Don’t be fooled! Buy our perennial grass seed blends that are northern turf grasses specifically selected for our tough Minnesota climate and soil.

FORMULAHow much product do you need?

Calculate your square footage of area (SQ. FT. = length in feet x width in feet)

If you have more than one area just add up the total square footage.

Decide depth of product.

  • Mulch (2″-3″)
  • Soil and Soil Amendments (site and job specific)

  • 2″ Depth: SQ Footage ÷ 162 = Cubic Yards
  • 3″ Depth: SQ Footage ÷ 108 = Cubic Yards
  • 4″ Depth: SQ Footage ÷ 81 = Cubic Yards
  • 5″ Depth: SQ Footage ÷ 65 = Cubic Yards
  • 6″ Depth: SQ Footage ÷ 54 = Cubic Yards
  • 8″ Depth: SQ Footage ÷40 = Cubic Yards
